FYI: Ford Motors gives more of the gift that keeps on giving—cold, hard cash—than any other corporation: over $137 million in 2001. But scrappy retail chain Target topped Forbes magazine’s list of most-philanthropic companies this year by giving away the largest share of its income in 2001: nearly $86 million, or 2.5 percent of its previous year’s take. Also in the top 10: the much maligned Walmart, which gave away over $116 million in 2001—just under one percent of its income. [11/27/02]
