Welcome to City Limits’ NYC Housing Calendar, a weekly feature where we round up the latest housing and land use-related events and hearings, as well as upcoming affordable housing lotteries that are ending soon. Upcoming Housing and Land Use-Related Events:

  • Thursday, Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m.: Queens Borough President Donovan Richards will hold a hybrid land use public hearing discussing an amendment of the zoning map and a zoning text amendment. This will take place at Queens Borough Hall and can be streamed live here.
  • Thursday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.: The Association for Neighborhood Housing and Development will host a panel discussion titled “Fight Forward in Brooklyn: Towards Stability for Owners and Renters,” on housing security and stability for low-income homeowners and tenants.   • Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.: BRIC TV will host a town hall in partnership with THE CITY on the housing crisis in Brooklyn. RSVP here
  • Sunday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m.: National Low Income Housing Coalition President and CEO Diane Yentel joins David Brand, City Limits’ deputy editor, for an interview on the program City Watch on WBAI 99.5 FM and wbai.org.
  • Monday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.: The City Council’s Aging and Buildings Committees host a joint oversight hearing on increasing affordable housing for older New Yorkers and improving accessibility in the city’s housing stock. They will also discuss multiple bills, including legislating and setting rules for evictions of people with disabilities. More information here
  • Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: HPD invites individuals to its Outreach Van in partnership with NYC Council Member Julie Menin. In these vans, you can learn more about HPD and housing-related issues such as preparing to apply for affordable housing, understanding your rights and responsibilities, and filing a housing complaint. The van will be at 444 East 75th St., Manhattan. More here. 
  • Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m.: HPD is hosting a virtual property management class on getting rid of pests and educating property owners about their responsibilities to eliminate pests. Register and learn more here.

NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries Ending Soon 

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
