I have been in the same situation, I was harassed by 5 guys at LaGuardia Airport, attempting to get a ride, they issued me a $4000 summons.

It is very hard to make a living driving a Tax, both riders and drivers are aware of their safety, that’s we don’t attempt to pick up a non-requested rides. TLC Officers are misconducting this practice, setting up a trap so that you can make money out of drivers pocket is unfair, The City Of New York Should Stop This Practice. Setting up a trap and asking for thousands dollars is unlawful, unfair, harassing drivers, and preventing our ability to work and think properly.

These officers are out there to make money by force, it looks like they don’t have a proper training how to handle the practice, they are after money. My understanding is that, any enforcement officer should always protect people and leading them to obey rules. The officers who set up a trap so that they can charge you money and threatening to take your property if you don’t pay, is not an officer that should be trusted. I don’t know the law very well, but I am probably sure that TLC is misconducting this practice.

If there is any way to represent the application to stop this harassment please do
