    We need to break the dependence of our elected officials on developers. City Planning legal staff needs to rewrite what developers are permitted when they purchase air rights. It should include mandatory inclusionary zoning at income levels that reflect the community district.
    The community and students need to be mobilized and actively engaged in a fight against gentrification. It is an insidious process continually replacing a more upper income group over the last. If we remain acquiescent we will get no more than a meaningless Community Benefits Agreement full of window-dressing and no real substance.
