Eric Adams predicted victory in New York City’s Democratic primary for mayor Tuesday, telling supporters he was confident he won the June 22 election for the city’s top job.
“I am someone who traffics in what’s happening by the numbers and I am not going to be the next mayor of New York City based on the numbers that have come in tonight. I am conceding this race,” Yang told supporters.
‘For me it’s not about choice—I know who I want to vote for and I voted for them,’ one voter told City Limits Tuesday. Other said they like RCV, and that it prompted them do more research about the candidates than they normally would.
The winner of the primary will go on to compete on the ballot in November’s general election—which in a city that leans as heavily Democratic as New York means most seats will be filled by whoever wins in June.
“When voters voted for ranked-choice voting, we voted for it with the understanding that there’d be two years of city-wide education, which never came,” said Christian Amato, who has been polling Bronx residents on their awareness of the ranked-choice system.
“The thing about the CCRB is it’s a volunteer job, and you basically run the agency, even though you don’t get the support,” the mayoral hopeful said of her year-long stint at the Civilian Complaint Review Board.
