Saturday saw the 17th annual Bronx River Flotilla make its way from Williamsbridge to the mouth of the East River, as 12 teams paddled five miles along one of the urban environmental movement’s great success stories. Led by Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver (pictured in the first shot below), and organized by the Bronx River Alliance, the event raised more than $56,000 for youth and family programs.
