Candidates File Campaign Disclosure Forms

Candidates running for elections this fall were required to file their disclosure forms with the State Board of Elections by last Tuesday, Sept. 3, and the BOE website posted the figures this week. They shed light on how much each candidate is spending, and on what, and how much they’ve racked in in campaign contributions so far. You can go here to search by candidate name, contributor name or by office.According to the reports, Sen. Pedro Espada has raised a whopping $484,855.51 in contributions since January 2009. Espada, who serves as the chair of the Senate’s Housing Committee, gets a large portion of his contributions from landlords.

A Morning of Endorsements

Pedro Espada’s campaign announced early this morning that he would be receiving the endorsement of Assemblyman Jose Rivera, former head of the Bronx Democratic Party, at the Bronx County Courthouse at 11 a.m. The press release also said Espada would receive the backing of “several major Bronx elected officials,” but did not name any other than Rivera. While that’s going on the in the Bronx Dan Padernacht, who dropped out of the race over the weekend, will be down at the Municipal Building in lower Manhattan making his endorsement of Gustavo Rivera formal. He’ll be joined by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., Comptroller John Liu, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, State Senator Liz Krueger, and labor unions. More on this later.
