Despite promises to convene a task force to explore what life after community school boards should look like, the state legislature has yet to do so, and time is running out: State law requires that this task force hold public hearings and propose a plan by December 15.

A second local Legal Services office made moves to pull away from headquarters last week, leaving Legal Services of New York City with the prospect of cutting jobs and services, at least in the short-term, while it sets up a new office in Manhattan.
