Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Monday, May 18 at 4 p.m.: The New York State Senate’s Housing, Construction and Community Development Committee will meet regarding several bills. More here.
- Tuesday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will meet regarding several properties, including plans to redevelop the former Polonaise Terrace event space in Greenpoint. More here.
- Tuesday, May 19 at 12 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Subcommittee on Landmarks, Public Sitings, Resiliency and Dispositions will meet regarding the land use application for 351 Powers Ave. in the Bronx, the first development proposal in the city to undergo a new “expedited” public review process. - Tuesday, May 19 at 12:30 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises will meet about a land use application for 147-14 Northern Blvd. and a sidewalk cafe application for Denino’s at 93 Macdougal St. in Manhattan. More here.
- Tuesday, May 19 at 1 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Land Use will meet regarding land use applications for 51 Powers Ave. and 147-14 Northern Blvd., as well as sidewalk cafe applications for Denino’s at 93 Macdougal St. and Challong at 749 Ninth Ave. More here.
- Wednesday, May 20, 6:30 p.m.: The city will host the first of three upcoming “NYCHA in Your Neighborhood” forums, for public housing tenants to meet and share their concerns with Mamdani administration officials, at the Classic Community Center in Melrose (286 East 156th St.) in the Bronx. - Wednesday, May 20 at 9 a.m.: The Supportive Housing Network of NY will hold an online event to mark the release of its annual report on the state of New York’s supportive housing sector. More here.
- Thursday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m.: The city’s Rent Guidelines Board will hold a public meeting to review staff reports and hear testimony from experts as it considers whether to raise the rent this year for tenants in stabilized apartments. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 3530 Willett Avenue, Bronx, for households earning between $82,183 – $122,160 (last day to apply is 5/20)
- 100 South 9th Street Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $147,292 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 5/20)
- 1686 Davidson Avenue, Bronx, for households earning between $75,703 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 5/21)
- 1427 Fulton Street Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $87,840 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 5/22)
