I have been thinking about this article for the past month since I read it. I find it interesting, and a bit concerning, that this article features platforms such a small demographic of Roosevelt Ave. sex workers – younger, transgender Ecuadorians / Latin Americans who sell their services on a voluntary basis.

Any resident of the effected neighborhoods know that these people are not at all representative of the local sex trade, which is almost 90% middle-aged (south)east asian women. I imagine you cannot get an interview with these women because their sexual labor is Actually trafficked and coerced.

If you cannot actually report on the stories of those who make up the majority of sex work in this district, you run the risk of misrepresenting the contours of the issue and downplaying the harms done to the majority of women on the streets. It is shoddy journalism.

domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens
to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts.
