There are tons of low-income people who are honest and responsible and pay their transit fares.

There are also tons of people of all incomes, backgrounds etc who don’t pay the transit fare.
There are subway stations where the door is held open and virtually everyone streams
    in.

Even worse – they feel Entitled to cheat.
Not a bit of remorse or embarrassment.
Like the orange Donald just re-elected.

People who don’t pay, then take a seat even though there is an old person standing.
Folks with the Starbucks, braids, expensive sneakers, Canada Goose coat.
The folks going to bars and clubs in Williamsburg or the LES or wherever.
    Etc.

Yes Fair Fares is important. (and don’t forget seniors get half-fare and students now getting OMNY cards)

But wrong to keep insisting on that grievance narrative, the fake narrative – that everyone is poor and can’t afford to pay.
