Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Tuesday, May 12 at 9:30 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will meet regarding several applications, including a proposal to build an addition on top of 675 Hudson St. which preservationists are opposing. More here.
- Tuesday, May 12 at 2 p.m.: Community Preservation Corporation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation will host a webinar to provide an overview of the Capital Partnership for Affordable Renovation Loan Program, which helps low- and moderate-income building owners improve their properties. - Tuesday, May 12 at 6 p.m.: The Department of Housing Preservation and Development will hold an online program for tenants in market-rate apartments about their rights under Good Cause eviction and other laws. More here.
- Wednesday, May 13 at 10 a.m.: The City Planning Commission will vote on the following projects: Monitor Point, Dewitt Clinton Park North (801 Eleventh Avenue), Dewitt Clinton Park North (629 West 54th Street), 101 Franklin Street Bulk Authorization, 65 Franklin – Landmark TDR + Authorization, and 198-208 Richmond Terrace. The commission will hold public hearings on the following: Saw Mill Creek Marsh Park Addition, 1160 Pugsley Avenue Rezoning, and 1166 Bedford Avenue Rezoning. More here.
- Wednesday, May 13 at 11 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Subcommittee on Landmarks, Public Sitings, Resiliency and Dispositions will meet regarding the land use application for 351 Powers Ave. in the Bronx, the first development proposal in the city to undergo a new “expedited” public review process. - Wednesday, May 13 at 12 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on General Welfare will vote on a bill that would require the Department of Social Services (DSS) to provide New Yorkers getting public assistance with electronic confirmation of their benefits interviews. More here.
- Thursday, May 14 at 8 a.m.: The New York State Annual Association for Affordable Housing will host its annual conference, a day of panel discussions and key note speeches focused on challenges and solutions in the affordable housing sector. More here.
- Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m.: The Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space will screen two documentary films about Lower East Side tenants reclaiming abandoned buildings in the 90s, part of Lower East Side History Month. More here.
- Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17, times vary: The New York Landmarks Conservancy will host the 16th annual Sacred Sites Open House, offering tours and public access to historically and architecturally significant houses of worship across the city. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 2892 Nostrand Ave Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $42,343 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 5/12)
- 50 Commercial Street Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $74,778 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 5/14)
- 673 & 675 East 32nd Street, Brooklyn, for households earning between $109,955 – $189,540 (last day to apply is 5/18)
- 1985 Jerome Avenue Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $35,692 – $116,640 (last day to apply is 5/18
