    I believe it should be disclosed that this author works for a firm that has been hired by a group of developers hoping to build on the Gowanus. In other words, if the city rezones, his clients make money. And if his clients make money, he makes money.

    why not rezone areas around Queens Village where there is ample transportation and schools .this area along Jamaica avenue looks and feel like a third world neighborhood. zoning will create more housing which is in dire need of and especially since the UBS Arena has caused the area to change with heavy traffic etc.

    One area that is ripe for rezoning is Beach Channel Drive between the NYC Ferry and Beach 116th Subway. There’s 40+ acres available with existing transportation, green space, schools and walkable retail.
