NYCHA rents are based on income, as are Section 8 payments (Section 8 recipients are also on the bottom of the ERAP list). I thought that income changes could be applied retroactively. I guess this would be a reason why subsidized renters would be de-prioritized.

But were rents not adjusted after Covid related income changes? Did some residents not lose income but have increased costs that were not factored into rent determinations? I would like to know more detail if possible.

NYS ERAP is nothing more than funds distributed around the USA during
COVID-19 Emergency. People in apartments behind on rent and with other
financial hardships qualify. The NYS ERAP application stated people did not have to be behind on rent only to be eligible. Now it’s said, NYCHA tenants were not eligible because NYCHA Subsidized, Sections-8, RAD, PACT, or Funding for fixing NYCHA Housing is needed. WOW! Those things have nothing to do with NYS ERAP Eligibility or any other State’s Program. This
has been going on for over 20 years funding given to NYCHA Housing Repairs has not been allocated. years. Money to fix these NYCHA Housing Projects those involved in actually getting the work done is not giving but a little and takes a lot. Stop! Talking. It is time you throw BLAME away and help the people you work for and do your jobs. Everyone wants a Title, Vote for me I’ll seat you free! How is that working? REALLY!
