I was in a Dhs facility for 10 months with my 2 year old twin daughters because inconsistent childcare that caused me to lose my job.. The staffs at the shelter was wonderful , helpful and treated us with dignity and respect. I was lucky enough to receive a EHV section 8 voucher but it was hell finding a landlord who would accept it, it took my 4 months to find a landlord who was willing to accept my voucher with the help of my housing specialist. The rampant discrimination against voucher holders is unhumane , you’re look down upon because you having a housing voucher , the city needs to fight income discrimination because it cost them a whole lot than more to house a family in the shelter than in permanent housing
