Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Monday, Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m.: New York State Sen. Lea Webb’s office will host a “Know Your Rights” online workshop to help people understand their utility bills. More here.
- Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 9 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will hold a public meeting regarding several applications, including a bid to demolish a Beaux-Arts style firehouse at 122-124 Greenpoint Ave. in Brooklyn and construct a new building with a restored firehouse facade. More here.
- Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 1 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Committees on Finance and Governmental Operations, State & Federal Legislation will hold an oversight hearing on implementation of the city’s new Pied-à-Terre Tax, or tax on pricey second homes. More here.
- Tuesday, Aug. 18, 6 to 8 p.m.: The Department of City Planning will host a community workshop around the city’s plan to rezone portions of White Plains Road in the Bronx for new housing and other improvements. More here.
- Wednesday, Aug. 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s Outreach Van will be parked at 843 East 149th St. in the Bronx, offering assistance with affordable housing applications, filing a housing complaint, financing repairs and more. More here.
- Thursday, Aug. 20, 12 to 4 p.m.: The 5th Annual Housing Justice Resource will take place in Harlem Art Park. More here.
- Saturday, Aug. 22, 12 to 4 p.m.: The Department of Housing Preservation and Development and and Councilmember Selvena Brooks-Powers’ office will offer assistance with housing-related issues. More here.
- Monday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m.: The City Planning Commission will host a public review session. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 2838 & 2840 Webb Avenue Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $106,903 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 8/17)
- 733 Lincoln Place Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $126,412 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 8/17)
- 729 Rogers Avenue Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $75,772 – $108,560 (last day to apply is 8/19)
- 2757 & 2759 Fulton Street Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between (last day to apply is $81,326 – $146,560)
- 31-88 45th Street Apartments, Queens, for households earning between $85,303 – $198,510 (last day to apply is 8/24)
- 920 Montgomery Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $111,532 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 8/24)
