Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Tuesday, July 28 at 6 p.m.: State Senator José M. Serrano and Bronx Legal Services will host a free presentation on tenants’ rights, housing protections and resources, followed by a live Q&A. More here.
- Wednesday, July 29 at 10 a.m.: The City Planning Commission will vote on land use applications for the 132 Melrose Rezoning and FDNY Cont’d Use of WTC Unit 1688 Victory Blvd. The commission will hold public hearings on the following proposals: 1455 Coney Island Avenue Rezoning and135-27 Sapphire Street Rezoning. - Wednesday, July 29 at 10 a.m.: NYCHA will hold its monthly board meeting. More here.
- Wednesday, July 29, at 5:30 p.m.: NYCHA will hold a public hearing to accept comments on its Fiscal Year 2027 Draft Annual Plan at the Theater at City Tech (285 Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn). More here.
- Wednesday, July 29 at 6 p.m.: The Department of City Planning will hold a virtual info session to review its proposed Expedited Land Use Review Procedure and Affordable Housing Appeals Board rules. More here.
- Thursday, July 30 at 6 p.m.: Unlock NYC will host a town hall for New Yorkers effected by the early termination of federal Emergency Housing Vouchers. More here.
- Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m.: The Department of City Planning will host a read along and hands-on art activity to celebrate the launch of the its new children’s book, “ABCs of City Planning.” Each child will receive a copy. More here.
- Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m.: NYCHA’s Resident Health Initiatives will host “Understanding Trauma, Its Root Causes, and Self-Care in Challenging Times” at the Marcy Community Center in Brooklyn. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 3556 Holland Avenue Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $75,703 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 7/28)
- Nevins Landing South, for households earning between $37,269 – $210,400 (last day to apply is 7/28)
- 2764 Wallace Avenue Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $81,086 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 8/3)
- Jamaica Central, Queens, for households earning between $57,875 – $147,280 (last day to apply is 8/3)
- 283 Flatbush Avenue Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $75,669 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 8/3)
