Another worthless story of the small business crisis. Facts matter especially with a growing crisis. Fact: on average the courts evict 500 businesses each month, the majority being immigrant owned! Any comment by SBS will never mention the forced closings only the same old useless programs that will not save a single small business. Fact: Stop referring the the Small Business Jobs Survival Act as being kicked around since Koch. WRONG. In 2009 the bill had 32 sponsors and the Small Business Committee selected it as the Best solution to stop the small business closings. Fact: unclear if the controversial proposal will get vote. What is controversial about giving rights to tenants to negotiate fair lease terms, when only the landlords have all the rights has made the crisis worse and a city of empty stores. DO you job

The proposal has indeed been around since the Koch administration. We’ve written about its more recent activity. And it is controversial — that doesn’t mean right or wrong, just that people have very starkly divided opinions on it.

How ANHD is taken seriously as a progressive outlet boggles the mind. Maybe some staff care.
If only ANHD, funded by JP Morgan, Chase, etc, all the banks and real estate interests in NYC, actually supported the Small Business Jobs Survival Act. Also this report acts like there are no savvy established entrenched immigrant business owners who also own their property, kind of patronizing.

Perhaps it’s just as patronizing to suggest that those who do not own their own property are not savvy.
