Ceo and Executive Director Of Breaking The Cycle Drop Corp feel you should open up more permanent shelter base hotel setting with wrap around service all on site for unshelter homeless and do away with large shelter site. And bring back sro housing .with the state nyc is going we need sro housing and three quarter housing back on the table .the rent is too high more people homeless everyday by what transpire in there life we must break this Cycle.

SRO’s (Rooming Houses) were a bad idea and should not be brought back. They were so bad I believe they were outlawed or severely restricted in the 1961 Zoning laws.

‘ To reformers in the mid-1950s, these housing units represented all the worst qualities of city life. SROs became associated with poverty and crime, a symbol of urban decay and blight. They recalled the bygone era of the tenement, with all its raucous living, overcrowded quarters, and squalid conditions. ‘

    Exactly.

What is really needed in NYC is real affordable housing not one size fits all. Bring back section 8. I agree that SRO does not help because there is no privacy sharing kitchen and bathrooms cause problems. Last one I lived in was infected with drugs. SROs are a bad idea that didn’t work.

the city should allowed to build along main Avenues and Streets like Jamaica avenue with all those rundown rat infested building which needs to tear down anyway and upzone half mile around rail line including LIRR LINES .more supplies will cause rent to go lower and not to demand anyone to set aside a certain number of space for low income is a scheme for corruption and bribery to occur.
