“Most criticism of the BMT Vision Plan does not cite the plan itself, the pages of which demonstrate enforceable commitments that align with the priorities of CB6 and the broad coalition of area leaders, advocates such as Transportation Alternatives, unions, and civic groups.”

Couldn’t agree more. This is the neatest, clearest explanation of the plan I have seen so far. Thanks for writing this.

You voted yes because your Abundance/OpenNew York backers and board members wanted you to. One of your board members is a cofounder Open New York itself. But why be worried about conflict of interest when you ignore open meetings laws as well?
I live in the heart of the most affected neighborhood by this disastrous plan. We pleaded with you to have one meeting in our neighborhood you ridiculed us. We sent you a petition of opposition with almost 1000 residents signatures .& comments. You ignored it. As far as we can tell, there is no record of your board ever voting on your organization’s support for this plan. Your folder of materials you brag about being publicly available here purposely left off letters and opinion pieces against this plan. When we politely pointed that out to you, you ignored us.. A final plan hastily and secretly finalized , shared with the voting board members at the last minute with just days to examine and no opportunity to comment, and never discussed in a public forum in final form with any of the neighborhoods or thousands of residents it will affect. You are supposed to serve the residents of your district, not some hypothetical new residents of some hypothetical new neighborhood. The EDC announced this site take over as a port revitalization, never once mentioning housing. Your organization and you personally have cynically tried to insight, racial, and class divides and turn neighbor against neighbor in your single-minded quest to force this plan through as quickly as possible. The fact that you’re also aiding & abetting the most corrupt mayoral administration since Tammany Hall just adds insult to injury.
The shame of this, and the scandals, failures and undelivered promises surely to follow, will in fact, follow each of you individually and your organization as a whole forever.

What’s the point of leaving a comment if you’re going to take it down. Members of the Community Board 6 community rightfully left comments that were critical of Mike Racapio but well within the guidelines, yet but you took them down. So much for being fair & balanced. We thought better of CityLimits but I guess we were wrong. Shame on you CityLimits.

Hi John, apologies — I was just behind on approving comments so there was a delay between when you posted and when they would appear here (we screen all comments for spam/hate speech etc). –Jeanmarie Evelly, editor

The residents not being served by community board six are already used to Mike Racioppo being a thin skinned shill for Abundance/Open NY, but to be so threatened by a resident’s point by point rebuttal comment that you would remove it is a new low. But totally on brand.
