Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Monday, June 15, 1 to 3 p.m.: The City Planning Commission will hold a public review session. More here.
- Tuesday, June 16, 5 to 8 p.m.: The Rent Guidelines Board, which is weighing whether to raise rents this fall on tenants in rent-regulated apartments across the city, will hold its final public hearing at Symphony Space in Manhattan before its final vote later this month. More here.
- Tuesday, June 16, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: The Center for NYC Neighborhoods, Staten Island Legal Services, the Homeowner Help Desk and Northfield Community LDC will host a free workshop entitled “Protect Your Home Before the Next Storm.” More here.
- Tuesday, June 16 at 7 p.m.: House the Future will host a panel discussion the campaign for New York to establish its own “social housing” authority and the role of design. More here.
- Wednesday, June 17 at 10 a.m.: The City Planning Commission will vote on the following land use proposals: 1160 Pugsley Avenue Rezoning, 1166 Bedford Avenue Rezoning, 871 Seventh Ave., 189-10 Northern Boulevard Rezoning, Atlantic Avenue Demapping, and 221 Benedict Road. The Commission will hold public hearings on the following: 862-868 Kent Avenue, 815 Hutchinson River Parkway Rezoning, 158-06 Northern Boulevard Rezoning, and 21-31 46th Ave Rezoning. More here.
- Wednesday, June 17 at 10 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Public Housing will hold an oversight hearing on the pending expiration of federal emergency housing vouchers administered by NYCHA, which are expected end later this year for thousands of city households. More here.
- Wednesday, June 17 at 11 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Subcommittee on Zoning & Franchises will meet and hold public hearings on the following proposals: 198-208 Richmond Terrace, 164th Street Rezoning, and 50-20 108th Street Rezoning. More here.
- Wednesday, June 17 at 11 a.m.: City Hall will host its third and last “NYCHA in Your Neighborhood” forum at the Ethel Battle Velez Community Center in East Harlem where public housing residents can share their concerns and questions with city officials. Registration is required. More here.
- Wednesday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m.: Crain’s New York Business will host a live interview with Deputy Mayor for Housing and Planning Leila Bozorg. More here.
- Thursday, June 18, 8 a..m. to 6:30 p.m.: The Supportive Housing Network of NY will host its annual conference in Manhattan. More here.
- Thursday, June 18 at 6 p.m.: The Community First Development Coalition will hold a virtual meeting about super-tall tower being proposed for Independence Plaza in Tribeca. More here.
- Monday, June 22 at 2 p.m.: Federal Reserve Bank of New York, in partnership with Change Capital Fund, will host an in-person event on community-owned housing and tools that enable local groups to own buildings or land. More here.
- Monday, June 22, 5 to 8 p.m.: Members of the public can testify to Mayor Zohran’s Mamdani’s Commission on Government Efficiency at a hearing in Long Island City, Queens. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 170 Freeman Street Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $66,412 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 6/15)
- 786 Fairmount Place, Bronx, for households earning between $79,440 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 6/15)
- 1727 Boston Road Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $75,669 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 6/15)
- 217 Bedford Park Boulevard Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $75,703 – $108,560 (last day to apply is 6/16)
- Las Raices Apartments, Manhattan, for households earning between $30,823 – $168,320 (last day to apply is 6/16)
- 34-20 Junction Boulevard Apartments, Queens, for households earning between $91,475 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 6/16)
- HELP Hinsdale C, Brooklyn, for households earning between $46,115 – $126,240 (last day to apply is 6/16)
- 1407 Nelson Avenue Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $75,703 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 6/18)
