Ceo Renee Mitchell Of breaking the cycle drop corp. Said homeless is a human right no one should be denied housing most supported housing you half to come from a shelter or hospital and most half to have a hra10e to be approved to get in the door for supported housing. So if consumer are being rejected maybe the elected officials should change the policy on how its require to enter supported housing. And maybe my suggestions is building smaller shelter with wrap around service.

So here’s an idea: repeal all the ridiculously draconian rent regulations, e.g. price controls, and the red tape associated with offering housing, and watch this problem evaporate overnight.

Maybe bc rules about paying higher rents to hotel landlords with moronic laws that the residents must follow (homeless people must vacate rooms during the day) are a way for politicians to pay back hotel owners for campaign support. This is my opinion..

the reason why housing agencies are cherry picking who gets in. which to me I’m shocked it’s happening now after so many years. is because of how many apartments are around for housing agencies. for too many years landlords don’t want to deal with housing agencies. for the apartments that the housing agencies do have left. the said agencies don’t want to lose. why is this the case. for too many years housing agencies have been doing a thing called putting anyone with everyone. what do I mean by this. you can have one person who does no drugs at all being roomed with someone that is doing nothing but drugs. that person brings in people who are doing drugs also with no care for the roommate. if anyone knows what the deal is with cops coming in doing a drug bust. everyone goes in doesn’t matter if you have anything to do with the roommates drug dealings or not. this in turn can give you a record for no other reason but having a roommate that is a drug head. or a roommate that does nothing but that takes your food leaving you nothing to eat when that person gets food stamps. or likes to steal your personnel things. or the best yet making your half of the utilities bill higher than it should be. in terms of a housing agency not allowing a person a have a pet. there’s a number of reasons for this. some reasonable. it’s because most housing agencies only do roommates and don’t want the problems of the persons pet getting hurt or worst from a roommate. not only that but because the agency is the one renting the apartment and is subletting the apartment the agency has to follow the rules of the building not the person in question. the agency might allowed the pet. but the landlord might not. now when it comes to why most of the apartments are in buildings that are run by slumlords it’s because of one reason and one reason alone. MONEY. slumlord building almost 99 percent of the time have the most rooms allowed by supportive housing guidelines (3 bedrooms at a time). at the cheapest price. the housing agency knows the landlord is a slumlord. not giving heat. not doing repairs the right way. apartment falling apart, etc. most of the time the housing agency don’t care. the only thing that the housing agency cares about is how much money they are saving. in most cases today still. the housing agency are sticking more than one person per bedroom. now that housing agencies are coming to fact that this is no longer working the way it once did means that can no longer do things like the old days. housing agencies are being put under the watching eyes of state agencies like OMHNY. housing agencies can no longer get apartments from slumlords that leave the apartments like a dumb. housing agencies know if repairs have to be done the right way and the landlord ether doesn’t or refuses to. than the housing agency will be the ones to get it done. and for people who are going to ask how do I know all of this. I been in a number of supportive housing agencies. in which I dealt with not only this but many other problems. there are so many problems with supportive housing it would take me too long to list here. these are just part of the problem of why housing agencies are cherry picking who gets in to housing.
