I am a senior citizen whose life has been drastically altered due to covid-19. I have a compromised immune system that required me to wear a mask long before covid 19. Despite health issues I worked three hours a day at $12 an hour for four years until the pandemic. My boss lost her job and I mine. Out of the thirty or more places I reached out for help one responded. This morning I woke up so hungry I walked to two public schools hoping they were giving out meals but both doors were shut thight. I came back with a sore throat and nasty cough even though I wore two mask. What I find highly incentive is after having my bread ripped from my mouth, I was made to understand I nor my family do not qualify for any state grant and the list of requirements needed for other grants is nothing but a turn off. At 67 I lived an independent life on my small income. Two members of my household tested positive for the virus now everyone is in self quarantine. So how do I not qualify? It is now 4.12. This is what my life has been reduced to in America. Stay at home and die. Everyone who lost their job because of this stay home order should automatically be considered qualified for some groceries and maybe a small cash to tide them over until this crisis is over. No wonder so many of us a actually dying in our homes. Take a look at some of those food banks and see if many of this lining the streets situation is so bad that one week after the shutdown they are are all the food banks having their car trunks filled with the best while those made destitute like myself have to settle for the food pantry in our village that can only spare you a bag that a child can carry. Now I know how people who commit suicide feels just before they take that leap. A sense of overwhelming despair and fear.
