for starters build low income housing in well off to do neighborhoods that will be AFFORDABLE, not ruff neighborhoods all the dam time, like a friend of mine said AMI should be from 0 thru 100 for families and indiviuals, BUILD LOW INCOME UNITS WITH SPACE IN RESCOURCEFUL NEIGHBORHOODS, NYC SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE A SEGREGATION CITY

    From the CHPC report –

    ‘Over 60% of the city’s single-family homes exist in R3,R4, and R5
zoning districts, which technically allow for more than
    one dwelling unit per lot.’

So what? It’s up single-family homeowners to decide if they are stupid enough to go through the DOB aggravation and add a legal 2nd unit. 1-family homes are a tiny portion of NYC’s total housing stock, around 3% if even that much.

The need to create more affordable units should not come at the expense of parking. One item that is always an after thought with development is parking. More people have cars than there are spaces to park. As a former property manager for a low-income building, every parking space in the building was used. More development with little to no parking allocated to it creates a problem on our streets.
