This is dictatorship at its finest. What gives you the right to tell a property owner they cannot charge X amount for their property? If these bums was to get off their lazy butts and generate some capital instead of free-loading they would understand why this makes no sense to a reasonable person. Yes I understand that there should be consideration giving for the elderly and the truly unable people.

If what you are saying is true then let me come live in your property for below or what I think the rent should be. And you not able to evict me when I do wrong. Let’s see you do that. No you won’t do that because you want to make a profit also.

I’m so glad this bill is getting more support. It should already be a law.

No, it shouldn’t. It is horrible concept replete with unintended consequences which decreases the quantity and quality of rental housing.

You obviously have not studied, or understood, basic macro economics. Just ask residents of Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea or Argentina how rent regulation is working for them. And if you think that is simply hyperbole, look at the rental market in Vienna where, like NYC, rent control has caused a massive rental shortage with the average wait time for an apartment of seven years.

This will only help current renters, in the very short term, to the detriment of everyone else. Good Cause Eviction is a short-sighted and self-defeating concept, but again, sounds like you would be fine screwing everyone else as long as you got yours. Typical leftist IGMFY.

Iam absolutely shocked at the lack of knowledge for those that say they support this. No concept or understanding of the disaster our future effect. Curious when you are renting at your rent controlled amount and your landlord can’t fix your heat or building due to inflation how will you handle that 🤔

Sounds like you would be better off buying your own home than renting.

As a matter of fact, all the problems you describe are because of rent regulations. If your landlord had to compete for tenants in a fair market the conditions you describe would evaporate, but because he/she knows you will never leave, given your sense of entitlement, they have zero motivation to improve the property.

Rent control works great if your goal is to let housing stock deteriorate and perpetuate generational poverty.

Good Cause Eviction is just another term for universal rent control.

The evidence is overwhelming and clear: If you want to destroy a city, either bomb it directly or implement rent control. https://freakonomics.com/podcast/rent-control/

Rent control by whatever name is state sanctioned theft by tenants. These “progressives” simply don’t see their own hypocrisy in that they demand a “living wage” for workers but deny a property owner the same right.

Rent control simply passes the burden of housing from society as a whole to individuals. In other words it forces one set of individuals, property owners, to directly subsidize another set of individuals, tenants, whether they need it or not.

Good Cause Eviction will not provide a single unit of housing; to the contrary it will have the opposite effect. Would you accept a job where the government says “you cannot have more than 3% raise per year”?

These socialists simply cannot admit their policies are failures.

Agreed. If the government insists people are provided housing for free, they need to do it on their dime, time and in their own properties. If the government insists, they need to provide.
