Regarding the Bay Street S.I. rezoning. There is no way that S.I. can sustain 6000 new residents without straining the island’s limited infrastructure. There are no subway connections from SI to Manhattan, so how are these people going to get to their jobs?

In the hope we have a responsible rezoning effort, it should be noted how many, many, many community members did NOT participate in the Bushwick Community Plan. It is a left-leaning, quasi-radical and deliberately nebulous plan designed to be rejected so as to benefit the current city councilman by his rallying of his base.

SI Comm Board 1 is opposed to the Bay Street plan in it’s current form as is BP James Oddo. Building apartments for 6,000 people will increase SI’s total population by 1.25% in one small area, which is absurd. The water lines up there are way over 100 years old and the narrow streets are at capacity now. The only way to Manhattan is via the SI Railway to the SI Ferry. The ferry can handle that kind of increase but the SI Railway cannot.
