They say it’s affordable. I say not. It’s for a person making $50,000 and up. What about the person who makes $35,000 or $30,000 and less. You can’t find affordable apartments. This is a gimmick. It’s for people who make alot more than the person that don’t make much. The system is rigged. My opinion.

You all really forget about the seniors that’s on a fixed income and cant afford to pay a high percentage of their income. Theres nowhere for seniors to go but NYCHA, and that isnt for seniors you have limited places for us. The next step you want to put us in nursing homes and forget about us. All those buildings that’s being built, not one of them is for seniors. I’m in my early 60’s and cant find a decent place to live. Every where I apply for they say that I’m not eligible even though they say that I am in the beginning. After I submit a application they send back, not eligible. Do you think that we want to live some where decent? I’m living in NYCHA considered FHA-HOUSES and they dont want to do a dam thing for us. I’ve been here over 40 years and it’s like prison, and I want to leave. I dont want to leave queens because my family is here.

So politicians would purposely bankruptcy small landlords who were providing affordable housing so they can buy up commercial property and possibly convert it to affordable housing …..I guess that is what you call “fools” thinking..of I meant foward thinking …only fools here are the citizens of NYS who believe this isnt a scam and way for corrupt politicians, Cuomo, DeBlasio and NYS Democratic legislators to line their pockets. VOTE THEM OUT!!

I wish everyone would go to http://www.Guidestar.org and look up the buyers and developers claiming to be “non-profit” –for example, Breaking Ground. You’ll find the Board’s names, the financials and the” .org’s” 990 tax returns with the juicy salaries of the top execs. It is MOST informative. As Marx said, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions..”

I’m in the exact category you state. And even with a City program, I can’t find a place in the NYC area. A senior place in the Bronx rejected my application, why, income was too low, BUT income level doesn’t play into it even with $1,265 available for my rent.
I appealed, they said too late, the apts are filled!

And you are correct about the levels of income required. They are now reaching $200,000 income for subsidized housing! And that’s who they want, not the under $30k even into a micro apt, they want $50k+ as a minimum. And after, what is it, 1.5M people get evicted, they won’t get an apt because collection will be let loose on them and their credit will be destroyed this unqualified for any apt. I’m in my mid-sixties and how can I pay off or resurrect my credit now with a disability. If you’re unemployed at 50, no one is hiring you for your old level, if at all. We’re being played right into the garbage heap. And the establishment politicians won’t care unless you’re in their doorway.
