Interesting that the districts expected to add enrollment are filled with 1 and 2 family homes. I think what’s happening is that many Chinese-American families are moving into these safe quiet neighborhoods because the schools are safer and better than their current schools in Bklyn and Queens. I see this in my own S.I. neighborhood.

Another interesting fact is that the average school losing enrollment is losing 15.5% of it’s enrollment, the average school gaining enrollment is gaining 7.65% enrollment.
. I made a pdf with a sort by district number, etc:

Most of the students and their families are being forced out of their apartments. Over the past few years many of our student’s had to move to the Bronx because their parents could no longer afford the rent in Bushwick. When I started teaching at my school there were over 1,000 students. Now we have less than 300 students. The new developments in Bushwick are too expensive and many of the residents are leaving because the neighborhood is not affordable.
