Are you sad that people who actually want to address the priorities of the vast majority of new yorkers are in/gaining power?

If the republicans want to govern, maybe they should start actually caring what new yorkers want.

“Open primary” has many definitions. The classic definition, from political science textbooks and US Supreme Court opinions going back to 1979, is that it is a system in which every party has its own primary ballots and its own nominees, but any voter can choose any party’s primary ballot. I doubt the author means this system. Maybe he means a system in which an independent voter can vote in any partisan primary. Or maybe he means the system in which parties don’t even have nominees. It is too bad he didn’t define how he is using the term.
