I’m a CityFHEPS receipient myself and I’ve been dreading the day the city decides to arbitrarily cut it off. I’ve no faith in the program, and no choice but to rely on it. I’m terrified of waking up one day to find myself being evicted on quasi-legal grounds. The whole thing is predatory. If there’s any hope for people on the CityFHEPS voucher, and if my input and experiences can help, I’ll gladly support any efforts to change things for the better.

If anyone reading this has experience in successfully submitting program applications, please get in touch with me. I work for a brokerage, and study vouchers, and I’ve been desperately trying to figure out how to legally and successfully get through state and federal program recipients. Landlords are tough, and I’m never sure what to include in an application, and NYCHA/HRA don’t have helplines with answers. Any resources appreciated! There’s so much housing in NYC it’s not fair that program FAQs aren’t available to agents and brokers who could use them to help recipients.

I’m a housing specialist with DHS. I’ve got clients for you if you can bring me landlords that will take $1323 for one bedrooms and $1580 for two bedrooms. Send me an email [email protected]

I read your message on City Limits. Any advice for an apartment with a Fheps voucher for $1,323.00. Me and my wife live in a homeless shelter in the Bronx for the past nine months. Same old story 40 times the rent. Please help. Thanks much.

Grace: I read your comments and [Do] understand your phliaght & frustration. I am a Private-R/E Broker “specializing” in Government-Guaranteed Rent-Subsidy Programs and Initiatives (2010-E, CityFHEPS, Section-8, Shallow-Subsidies, HUD-VASH and similar). Over the last (5) years I’ve seen/learned alot watching and asking pivotal/pointed questions to help get myself “Into the Know” –.Knowledge IS Power– but IT Needs to be Accurate to be truly helpful/ valuable to the “End Users” namely: The Landlords and Tenant Voucher-Beneficiaries… and in-all-that to always remember “The Landlords ARE the ‘VIPs’!!” > without them We have NO-business to conduct!! >> Thus, we all have learn [How] to ‘Think Like a Landlord!’ If we really want to be Effective & Successful and create what I call: “WIN, WIN, WIN, WIN, WIN” Scenarios — ‘Win-Wins’ don’t cut-it-Here–that’s Real-Amateur — We brokers ‘NEED TO KNOW’ What’s going On–AND–What’s Going DOWN so We maybe @the “Cutting-Edge” and doing-well for ALL PARTIES… and Not just 1-or-2

Feel free to forward Me your contact info/phone number via email > and If I can help U answer a question or clarify/ remedy-a problem in your mind amidst the “Confusion” I will try my best… Don’t give up working-forward to “better-outcomes” >> To He/She whom Toils will go the Spoils!! (Sometimes that IS true>>More Power 2U Grace! Keep on–Keepin’ On!). Thanks again for your comment

I have got a voucher when I was in the shelter with me and my daughter. Me and her dad is planning to get married next month. Can I still use the voucher if I’m married? Or could I get an updated voucher since my family size increased?

I too have the cityfheps voucher. Been in the shelter since dec.’ 2019. Income discrimination left and right. Finally, I started to report these a-holes to the income discrimination unit. It’s been over a week, no response from the attorney. I have a notebook size list of income discriminators. I’m beyond frustrated and stressed out. I’m looking for a broker and/or landlord that accepts the cityfheps! Anybody out there can help me?
