The neighborhood homeowners may be opposed to ‘affordable’ apartments because they know that ‘affordable’ really means low-income. I’m sure many of the homeowners came from other parts of the Bronx destroyed by low-income housing residents. No elected official from this neighborhood supports this destructive project.

This development will have mixed income, market rate, senior, and veteran units. Also some commercial and community space at the ground level. This will not be a predominantly low income building, though there will be some low income households. And that is okay. In fact it gives those people a shot at living in a neighborhood that they could otherwise not likely afford, one with a more stable social situation.

We are already diverse and way too overcrowded. We don’t have enough parking or emergency services to handle that much more including infrastructure along with traffic and electrical power problems. Also flooding . We don’t have enough police force with the amount of crime we now have here as well. This needs to be stopped .

I think that we should all stick together and not vote for any council member. We should vote for anyone else. All the ones that voted to approve the rezoning are not supporting te neighborhood.

‘…gives those people a shot at living in a neighborhood that they could otherwise not likely afford, one with a more stable social situation…’

The same BS that has destroyed many NYC neighborhoods over the last 60 years. Low-Income residents destroy the ‘stable social situation’ in every neighborhood they have ever moved into.

Flatbush, East Flatbush, Brownsville, East New York, South Bronx, Stapleton, etc, etc…..

This would be the absolute worst decision for this neighborhood, the city and the intended occupants. These effected lots are in an area with virtually no reserve sewerage capacity, no parking capacity, no school capacity, no electrical grid capacity, not to mention other vital services to support such a development including public transportation. These lots are not connected but will sprall out over several box, and It’s clear that the developers will have their eyes and wallets on the adjacent spaces. This is just the beginning of a larger plan. A casual walk of the neighborhood now shows that this is already a diverse, crowded zone of NYC. Such zoning changes also require full acceptance of the FAA flight path stipulations, which is being completely ignored – There are many more spacious areas in the Bronx, that could easily accommodate a development like this. The current zoning regulations were specifically intended to prevent such modifications. This is criminal if this were to be allowed. I smell a payoff at the highest levels of the public community

Why does City Limits always seem to give the “kicker” , the last quote, to developers, like Goldstein here?
