Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will meet regarding several land use applications, including a proposal to demolish a two-story garage at 406-410 MacDonough St. in the Bedford-Stuyvesant/Expanded Stuyvesant Heights Historic District in order to construct a new building. - Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m.: The Board of Standards and Appeals will meet. More here.
- Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises will vote on the following land use applications: Fort Hamilton Mews Rezoning, Park Avenue Brooklyn Rezoning, Sojourner Truth – Mapes Rezoning, 69-67 108th Street Rezoning, 289 Kent Avenue Rezoning, 108-05 68th Road Rezoning, 100-12 Queens Boulevard Rezoning, and South Richmond Designated Open Space Amendment. - Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Land Use will vote on the following land use applications: Fort Hamilton Mews Rezoning, Park Avenue Brooklyn Rezoning, Sojourner Truth – Mapes Rezoning, 69-67 108th Street Rezoning, and 289 Kent Avenue Rezoning. More here.
- Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.: The East Midtown Public Realm Improvement Fund Governing Group will meet and provide an update on projects, including plans to redesign the meridians along Park Avenue. More here.
- Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m.: Public Power NY Coalition will host a “Utility Ripoff Hearing” to bring ConEd customers together in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, for a discussion about rising energy costs and their campaign for a publicly-owned energy system. More here.
- Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m.: The City Planning Commission will vote on Studio 54 Rehabilitation and Text Amendment, a proposal by the Roundabout Theatre Company to facilitate a substantial rehabilitation of the Studio 54 Theater at 229 West 53rd St. More here.
- Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m.: Citizens Union will host a conversation between New York’s planning commissioners from the last four mayoral administrations for “a candid discussion about the decisions that continue to define the city today.” More here.
- Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m.: Join The City Club of New York for a panel discussion on the city’s Fair Housing Framework, adopted in 2023, which requires New York City to produce a plan for the equitable distribution of housing construction. More here.

- Longfellow Marmion Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $0 – $109,920 (last day to apply is 10/8)
