Chris Dignes lives in a $1.6M apartment in Greenwich Village and spews the talking points of his fiancé, a former de Blasio administration employee, who founded a housing non-profit organization called RXHome. Follow the money.

Why is City Limits giving the DCP mouthpiece the “kicker”, the final say at the end of the story.

Does the reporter not know that at the last CB2 hearing, when asked, the DCP rep could not guarantee a single unit of affordable housing would ever be built.

Since the story is about CB2, surely a CB2 person should have had the final say.

I am surprised and dismayed by the tone and errors in this biased report. Lets start with the condescension: oh my, these rich white wealthy people would suffer a Target, if the zoning goes through. Horrors. Truth is, a Target is already slated to open in SoHo, conforming with the current zoning. While there are people with vast wealth living here, the truth of the matter is that most of them are living here despite the zoning, which allows artists to live where they manufacture their art. And the artists are still here. As many as 200 have participated in Envision and other meetings. Many are aging in place, and most could not afford the rent that will be required in any mandatory housing that would be built. The artists, along with their Asian American neighbors, most of whom live now where the 250 foot towers would go, are sure to be displaced. The City never even bothered to even quantify how many there are. Its a very poor plan that gives so may outs to developers that it is likely no affordable housing will be built. It seeks to turn SoHo/NoHo/Chinatown into Midtown South.

Marte’s comment on climate justice advocates is a straight-up lie. We need more people living in walkable neighborhoods with apartments if we’re going to fight climate change. Marte is helping a very small but wealthy (and therefore loud) group keep Soho for themselves. I speak as someone who grew up in the neighborhood, but am now ashamed of Sohoites behavior.

Give us the 900 affordable units. I’m against the 2100 unaffordable units and big box stores in my neighborhood that will lead to more unaffordable property tax assessments for older residents. Affordable housing is welcome.
