The Bail Bond system is not broke. It does it’s job of producing folks in court at no cost to the taxpayer. You sir, were a victim of fraud. It happens in every industry. There are plenty of Bail Bonding companies that operate with integrity. Don’t blame us for your failure of due diligence when hiring a Bondsman. The same thing happens frequently with contractors.

    Hello,

While I sympathize with what happened to you, I wholeheartedly believe the person that took your money should be charged with some crime, here in Michigan we call that larceny by conversion. I have been a bondsman in Metro Detroit for the better part of 28 years and not once have we or I ever taken someone’s money and not produced what we said we were goi my to do. Just as in all professions there are bad apples and it sounds like you got one. But please don’t generalize what we do based upon what unfortunately happened to you by that bad apple. We help people every day that couldn’t otherwise afford bail, yet still providing the court with the security that the defendant will appear at no cost to the tax payers.

    Kind regards

So the person that committed a fraud on your was not a bail bond agent? Then why are you vilifying them? I know nothing about the bail bond industry but you sir seem to be on some type of personal vendetta at the cost of the taxpayers of New York. Why doesn’t the Insurance Commissioner then come up with regulations to regulate the industry? Doesn’t that seem to be a more practical route to take then trying to eliminate an entire industry in our State? What industry is next on your list?

According to Mr. Fillet, all stock brokers should be eliminated due to Bernie Madoff. He was arrested for fraud. I do not understand why this fake bondsman was not arrested for fraud if Mr. Fillet’s story is true. Eliminate the fraudster by prosecuting, not an industry based on an unlicensed fraudster.
I would think a Professor would be able to understand a person committing a crime is not an industry. Google “Professor Sentenced” and you find many Professors sentenced for a crime. Some very heinous. Does that mean all Professors should be eliminated? Very disappointing that a Professor would think this way.
