Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Monday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m.: Mayor Zohran Mamdani will hear testimony on recently-passed City Council legislation that would allow sidewalk cafes/outdoor dining to operate year-round. Watch the livestream here.
- Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 9 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will meet regarding applications for several landmarked properties. More here.
- Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m.: The City Council will hold a hearing on several mayoral appointments, including the appointment of John Mangin to head the Board of Standard and Appeals, which weighs in on certain land use decisions, and Lisa Garcia as head of the city’s new Land Bank. More here.
- Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 12 p.m.: NYU’s Furman Center will host an online webinar on how to use its CoreData.nyc platform, and will introduce six new indicators related to flood zones and neighborhood-level rent stabilization data. More here.
- Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Health will hold an oversight hearing on the protecting New Yorkers from Legionnaires’ Disease, including requirements for buildings’ cooling tower inspections. More here.
- Friday, Sept. 4, 12 to 4 p.m.: P.A.L.A.N.T.E and the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development will be at 1411 Amsterdam Ave. in Harlem to offer resources and assistance with housing issues. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 7910 4th Avenue Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $99,738 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 8/31)
- 229 Wythe Avenue Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $62,606 – $109,920 (last day to apply is 9/2)
- 125 Chrystie Street Apartments, Manhattan, for households earning between $58,869 – $183,200 (last day to apply is 9/2)
- Solace, Brooklyn, for households earning between $38,949 – $238,160 (last day to apply is 9/3)
- Blondell Commons, Bronx, for households earning between $29,418 – $147,280 (last day to apply is 9/4)
