Brooklyn wasn’t center stage in the stories that headlined federal primary week. The shocking upset of Joe Crowley was centered in the borough next door. The Michael Grimm comeback attempt against Dan Donovan touched a sliver of South Brooklyn, but its epicenter was across The Narrows.
Still, Rep. Yvette Clarke’s close call against newcomer Adem Bunkeddeko, and perhaps even Rep. Carolyn Maloney’s modest (by the standards of incumbent New York City members of Congress) win over Suraj Patel could hint at a generational shift underway.
Or they could be the kind of blips that reporters seize on as the sign of a generational shift that, well, never actually comes.
