Trump Lifts Pause on NY Offshore Wind Project, But Does it Come at a Price?

A large majority of downstate electricity supply — and practically all of our “marginal” (incremental) generation — comes from burning fracked gas. The silver lining of this awful fact is that virtually every kWh generated by Empire Wind translates to less fracking and less natural gas combustion and climate pollution. Does NYCC’s Pete Sikora factor this benefit into his castigating Gov. Hochul’s possible deal okaying the Constitution pipeline in exchange for Trump’s lifting the pause on Empire Wind? Can City Limits do a follow-up story exploring this trade-off?
