You would be hard put to find ANY supporters of the plan in the Rockaways.

The significant thang that the story omits is that HPD is untrustworthy. In plain English, they are liars. I was a member of the committee tat produced the Resilient Edgemere plan. It recommended NO new high rise construction in the area. HPD was unhappy with that result, so they rewrote the report, keeping the Resilient Edgemere title!

And talk about deception. The Department of City Planning, in evaluating these ULURP plans, states that 14 and 17 story buildings in an area of 1 and 2 family houses is “in context of the neighborhood.”

What about the NYCHA buildings in the Rockaways? They aren’t 1 and 2 family houses but they are part of the neighborhood context. There’s already high rise buildings in Edgemere and there will be more when Edgemere Commons is fully built, regardless of this plan
