That will only increase the illegal number of occupants that should be legally there… if you say for a 2 bedroom up to 5 people…I hate to say this but about 7 or more will be living in the apartment, in effect making the Certificate of Occupancy null and void. That will increase the possibility of that building becoming unsanitary and unsafe…In their attempt to make it easier this will in effect prove disastrous!!! Look at public housing… there are more people living there than should be on the lease #FACT. This is a very bad idea, you will empty public housing out and make these new buildings the new public housing. My prediction.

Eliminating the credit change seems like a positive move given the increase in credit fraud we are faced with.

Increasing the amount of people in households is a concern. The majority of new buildings are constructing the smallest bedrooms allowable by law. Could you imagine 3 people living in a jail cell sized room along with their belongings? This is a fire hazard and the city would be putting more lives at risk. This is also unsanitary. Could you imagine throwing a smoker in the mix? Apartments are getting smaller! New rent stabilized Building owners are now omitting square ft from postings. This sounds like a horrific plan!

I believe this is a positive reformation. Many applicants who apply for (nychousing connect) are coming out the shelter system or don’t have no credit at all. Me myself for example I have my apartment and want to relocate. I keep getting denied before interview because of my credit. Which I’ve had my apartment for approximately 12 years of rental history. Or people who are coming out the shelter system for 2-12 years in there. How are they too have good our fare credit). I am very pleased at the sound of this. I wish they will make it easier then what it is. I have a program who pays 100%of my rent. And I keep getting denied because they say they don’t know how I am going to pay my rent. Right now my rent is $1,153.00 every month since 2007 my rent has been paid for religiously. But for some reason other management companies deem me other. This is not a program that consists of getting an application and see if I qualify. NO! My program is because of my health and until I DIE. THIS PROGRAM WILL PAY MY RENT. I’ve written HUD , HOUSING PRESERVATION ON THIS ISSUE. OF ME BEING DENIED FOR REASONS OF CREDIT OR FOR WHAT I EXPLAINED BEFORE. I hope now the shelter system will lower its residence number. And the process will not take outrageous years to qualify a person or their family for stable housing.

It’s terrible when they’re unwilling to look at individual circumstances. I hope these new laws make it better for you.
