Trinity Church has a billion dollars in the bank, Catholic church has how much $ and other religious institutes are doing nothing to help out the poor and homeless.

Religious organizations (Catholic Charities, Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies, The Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty) actually provide a good deal of assistance in paying back rent but only IF the family has whats called “futurability. Futurability means that if the charities can get people caught up on rent , the family will be able to pay the rent at least in the near future.

But even using those rather tight restrictions, there isn’t enough money, and they triage based on a combination of issues such as futurability, individual family circumstances, vulnerability of household members (elderly, small childre, disabled folks etc)

The only person who stood up was Assemblyman Charles Barron at the State of the State address. It should have been a lot more representatives walking out and expounding on that fake malarkey Cuomo was touting about assisting the homeless population if this is how they felr

With all the social services that taxpayers are providing, how in the world are there so many homeless families-I take it the parents are homeless also (if the kids are)? Are both parents working to support these kids? Even when the father is absent from the home, the govt. is supposed to force them to pay child support and most of the time alimony (if they were married). So what is happening? Where is the money and all the freebies taxpayers are paying for to support these families? Cellphones, utilities, food, health care, free training and grants, HUD for housing, etc, etc, why isn’t it working?
