This year, outside NYC, ballot drop boxes should be placed at entrances to city/town/village clerks’ offices and early-voting sites so absentee voters don’t have to go in – and make it easier for the expected large number of absentee voters. In the future, boxes could be fitted with scanners to read bar codes on the outside envelopes and to record which ballots have been deposited. Assemblymember Tom Abinanti (92AD Westchester)

How about using public libraries as the place for Drop Boxes in every community?

I was so saddened to see that so many ballots were disqualified!. This means that there is a failure of someone to do their job in explaining to the general population the basic 101 of completing and returning a ballot. There should be a basic public education televisted program for everyone. There are many people who have never voted in their life or it could be an older voter who might not be clear about the instructions….they may need a little help. As for postage, I would be willing and I am sure many New Yorkers would be willing to make a donation for any ballots lacking a postage stamp. Its just horrible to think that someones vote is just tossed out for a mere postal stamp .
