Thanks for a great story on this on this often-overlooked topic. At Goddard Riverside Community Center, we’ve discovered that even seniors who get meals delivered to their homes may still be at risk of hunger. Our recent study, Nourish FIRST (https://www.goddard.org/uploads/pdf_downloads/1429114189_NourishFirst_read_only.pdf), found that 13 percent of the meal recipients surveyed on the Upper West Side still experienced food insecurity. As a result, we’ve expanded the number of meals we provide to our elderly clients.

As America’s population ages, we must invest more to ensure our senior citizens lead healthy, fulfilling lives. — Trish Anderton, Goddard Riverside Community Center
