CityViews: Community Coalition Says the Council Must Reject or Reduce Jerome Avenue Plan

Rejecting or Reducing the Jerome Avenue Plan WILL NOT prevent or reduce an increased cost of living throughout and around the corridor.

Rents are not going to rise only because of this rezoning, they have already been on the increase for some time due to the increased desirability of living in or around the cordon, or the increased costs of living in areas closer to the city core like Harlem.

It’s better to work towards the fairest plan possible right now and modify over time.

Additionally, the Bronx, especially this area, could use more socioeconomic diversity. An influx of residents closer to the metropolitan area median income would be good for this area.
