“Censors”? Please, please have a human being read your articles before you post them.

That said, I applaud the City Island residents for taking matters into their own hands. The bigger, and very painful, issue is whether people should continue to live on City Island long term. Whatever you think the cause of climate change may be, the fact is that it is happening, and continuing to spend millions of dollars to repeatedly repair buildings is perhaps not the wisest use of public money.

Censors? What are you talking about? If you mean editors, I’m sure they did read it. What’s your beef exactly?

But, you raise a valid point – unfortunately, people have to be discouraged from rebuidling in flood zones where flooding will only get worse over time. You can’t keep rebuilding in flood zones.

It is rather embarrassing that almost ten years post Sandy and Rockaway appears to be in a time zone when it comes to resiliency. Major flooding on the bayside but yet government agencies are awaiting locations to put sensors. Just how serious are we about climate change and the effects on communities. I applaud the residents of City Island for actually doing something about it.
