Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Monday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m.: The city’s Board of Standards and Appeals will hold a public hearing on multiple land use applications. More here.
- Monday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m.: Atlantic Yards Community Development Corporation, which oversees the community impact of the ongoing Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park project in Brooklyn, will hold a directors meeting. More here.
- Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will meet regarding several properties, including an application to demolish a property at 257 Canal St. to facilitate construction of a new building. More here.
- Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.: The city’s Board of Standards and Appeals will hold a public hearing on multiple land use applications. More here.
- Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Small Business will meet regarding several bills, including one that would establish protections, including a written lease, for tenants of storefront premises. More here.
- Tuesday, Sept. 15, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: The Department of City Planning will hold an “Insights & Visioning Workshop” to gather input on its plan to expand housing south of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park (aka the South of Prospect Neighborhood Plan). More here.
- Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Children and Youth will hold an oversight hearing to evaluate New York City’s Runaway and Homeless Youth shelter system. More here.
- Wednesday, Sept. 16, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: The Mamdani administration will hold a “NYCHA in Your Neighborhood” forum in Queens for public housing residents to connect directly with city officials. Registration is required. More here.
- Wednesday, Sept. 16, 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Part of the Solution (POTS) will host an impact forum and panel discussion about ways to address rising economic pressure, food and housing insecurity, mental health challenges, and growing strain on social support systems. More here.
- Wednesday, Sept. 16, 6:30 p.m.: The South Street Seaport Museum will host “Perspectives on Brooklyn’s Evolving Working Waterfront.” More here.
- Friday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m.: Several NYC Council committees will hold an oversight hearing to discuss expanding eligibility for two rent freeze programs: the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) and Disability Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE). More here.
- Saturday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: State Sen. Roxanne Persaud’s office will host a housing resource fair at the Canarsie education campus. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 23-57 31st Street Apartments, Queens, for households earning between $79,440 – $122,160 (last day to apply is 9/15)
- 2074 Honeywell Avenue, Bronx, for households earning between $75,840 – $122,160 (last day to apply is 9/15)
- 132 Brown Place Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $67,886 – $146,560 (last day to apply is 9/18)
