Upcoming housing and land use-related events:
- Tuesday, April 7, 9:30 a.m.: The Landmarks Preservation Commission will meet to discuss the following buildings for potential landmark designation: Public School 15 Annex (362 Schermerhorn St., Brooklyn), Church of Saint Mary (440 Grand St., Manhattan), and Lithuanian Alliance Building (307 West 30th St., Manhattan). - Tuesday, April 7, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.: The Mamdani administration will hold a “rental ripoff” hearing on Staten Island for renters who want to share their experiences with city officials. Space is limited, and registration is required. More here.
- Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m.: The Department of Housing Preservation and Development will host an online workshop for faith-based and mission driven groups looking to build housing on their land. More here.
- Wednesday, April 8 at 7 p.m.: The DSA’s House the Future campaign will host a discussion on social housing and how to finance it. More here.
- Thursday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m.: The Rent Guidelines Board, which considers annual rent adjustments for tenants in rent stabilized apartments, will hold a public meeting. More here.
- Thursday, April 9 at 10 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Consumer and Worker Protection will hold a hearing that would require last-mile delivery facilities to obtain a license to operate. More here.
- Friday, April 10 at 10 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on Public Housing will hold an oversight hearing on security concerns in vacant NYCHA apartments. More here.
- Friday, April 10 at 12 p.m.: NHS Brooklyn CDC, Inc., will host an informational session on how to apply to the city’s affordable housing lottery, including for units at the Gail P. Duke Senior Residence in Brownsville, Brooklyn. More here.
- Monday, April 13 at 10 a.m.: The NYC Council’s Committee on General Welfare will hold an oversight hearing on food insecurity, as well as bills related to SNAP fraud and strengthening the city’s network of warming centers during extreme cold. More here.
- Monday, April 13 at 1 p.m.: The City Planning Commission will hold a public review session. More here.
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries: The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week.
- 400 Thatford Avenue Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $37,955 – $129,600 (last day to apply is 4/10)
- Prosper Brooklyn, Brooklyn, for households earning between $34,492 – $227,500 (last day to apply is 4/13)
- 3030 Colden Avenue Apartments, Bronx, for households earning between $79,303 – $140,000 (last day to apply is 4/13)
- 1259 St Marks Ave Apartments, Brooklyn, for households earning between $75,772 – $140,000 (last day to apply is 4/13)
- The Rowan, Bronx, for households earning between $81,018 – $140,000 (last day to apply is 4/13)
