I have been a housing specialist for over 12 years and you know what I have seen Tim in and time out. If I move out 100 clients into apartments maybe 20 with progress, the other 80 are using the system and never pay rent or destroy the apartment or turn them into drug dens!

Or landlords could just not be greedy, the vast majority of landlords in this city are developers who can afford the hit because they overcharge rent. Mamdani for mayor he’ll put that landlord scum in their place

That is so absolutely foolish and out of touch. Go get a job in the industry and you will change your mind.

Thank you for this article that brings to light the issues with trying to help voucher holders. Its great to read this perspective and not the constant “Landlords discriminate” or “Brokers discriminate”.
If the process were equal to a non voucher holder then the playing field would be leveled. DSS/HRA have created a seperate standard for voucher holders, effectively telling voucher holders that they cannot be relied in to choose their own place, DSS must make sure that the unit meets their standard and God forbid a tenant with a voucher rents a unit that the freezer is 2 degrees and not Zero, or hot water is 110 and not 120.
