The massive CPV power plant will provide about 5% of NYC electicity demand.NYC can cut its electricity demand by 30% in the next 20 years if residential and office buildings install better energy efficienct systems, and plug into community solar and wind power.
It is feasible technically and financially at parity. NYSERDA does support investments in some of these retrofitting and fossil fuel saving processes making them accessible. NYC must accelerate low interest loans for low income housing. It takes everyone being active, fighting their landlords and management companies, to be in control of their own emissions.

Cuomo now admits he has bought into the nat gas bridge myth, after saying in 2017 that we have to double down on dirty fracked gas but rather than allow what is in place to carry through the transition to the inevitable post carbon future he is expanding the infrastructure- building new bridges to hell rather than investing in replacements. Methane in the air has increased 30% in the last ten years ensuring more crises such as this misplaced polar vortex. Warmer a few days ago in parts of Alaska than in parts of Florida. City limits also apparently has taken Hook’s word for it (or her PAID expert’s) on the eagle regulations and he might be more credible if he did his own research. Our verifiable research is quite different: the eagles begin mating and preparing around December 1 and they establish their nest site for life unless disrupted. Mr Green videoed an eagle at the nest in early December as well as at least one other person. It is a crock but you bought into it.
