I agree that we don’t want the police managing this. Successful Open Streets are managed by the communities there and unsuccessful ones are have little or no community engagement. I’m not sure whether the community around Allerton wants the street to be open, but since the Vanderbilt community has demonstrated that success is possible without management support from the city, what further “support” are you hoping to provide?

    1. Really concerned that some open streets have impacted bus service.
For example, the M11 bus in Manhattan has been rerouted on weekends 97-120th Streets due to closure for restaurant dining.
This is unacceptable- mass transit must be the priority.

    2. Open Streets should not continue without increasing garbage service/pick-up and rodent. Opening streets has resulted in more trash, thus rats.

    3. Any street openings should be in the boroughs with insufficient park access – it is absurd to open streets like West End Ave, just one block from Riverside Park.

    4. planning must take into account the needs of the elderly, people with mobility issues who may depend on Access a Ride, taxis, Uber, vehicles

Eliminate all on-street parking citywide. Just ban it. Take the parking lane for other uses, plant most of it with bioswales and street trees to eliminate the CSO problem.

Eliminate all traffic control systems & install fixed object obstructions at every intersection and periodically mid-block which prevent speeds in excess of 15mph.

Remove all curbs and create a truly barrier free city that is hostile to non-service vehicles.

All small delivery vehicles shall be banned in favor of last mile distribution with cargo ebike and specialized trailers.

It’s time to get serious about making it a city for people, not a city for cars.

All Big Bird (aka Blasio) scams/schemes and programs initiated must be reversed with haste. Nepotism and crony capitalism of the D’s must be fought against. The ruin and decline of NYC is explicit and hopefully now visible to all.
