It is unfortunate that many of us seniors find ourselves in this position. Hindsight is always 20-20 vision, but had Bachom eschewed the Pradas and the $1+ million apartment and invested that money, she most likely would have had a nest-egg to support her now. I know – I started planning for my senior years when I was 21 years old.

Some people are not as fortunate as you Lorraine. Life happens to people and people are unable to plan for their future while dealing with life.

My mother (a doctor’s wife whose husband died unexpectedly. She was left to raise 4 kids in private school) is now a senior living in a rent stabilized apt on a fixed income. Is she not deserving of care in her senior years? Thats the problem with this country, we dont take care of our elderly NO MATTER HOW RICH THEY MAY HAVE BEEN IN THEIR YOUTH and our military?
